It was the first time I knew of cancer in our family. My father died at the age of 63. He was a hard working man who I never saw miss a day of work due to any illness, and yet cancer took him down in a single year. I was only 22 and he was always someone I respected and appreciated, and so his death, especially so early in my life, left a lasting mark. It must be worse for those effected by kids dealing with this horrible disease.
My Story
This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
