This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

    124 km left to go in my pledge and 8 days to do it.

    I took a few days off for R&R with some amazing women who feed my soul.

    Now it's all about me finishing my promise to the Kids.

    BTW i received my Hero jersey this week. Will post my pic shortly.

    Thank you to the Garron family and all of my loyal supporters like you who helped me to exceed my goal of $2500. It seems daunting to me each year when I set my goals in, but every year you help me and every year I do my 300k.

    The main reason is that this hospital and these kids keep setting goals and working hard, so I do too.

    And as outlined when we announced this amazing pledge, if we were to reach the $1,300,000 limit we'd distribute the matched donations across all your pages, based on a percentage of what you raised over the one day of Kick Cancer's Butt Day. This is the fairest way to ensure that everyone who made the effort, gets the reward. 😊

    But unfortunately, this does mean that we can't match all donations completely, so you'll receive a portion of the $1,300,000 based on the total you raised. I'll explain the calculation...

    $1,300,000 / $1,890,417 = 68.77% - so we've matched 68.77% of the total you raised on Kick Cancer's Butt Day and added this to your fundraising page.

    This is the fairest way to ensure EVERYONE is rewarded for their efforts to kick cancer's butt. I wish we could match every single donation but the response was just so incredible.

    We've totalled all donations made through the site on Wednesday, August 13, across ALL Canadian time zones.

    Life is good. My grandson's birthday was yesterday. My grandchildren are healthy and happy, playing baseball and hockey and gymnastics and swimming.

    I want all children to be as happy as they are.

  • The family trauma of cancer.

    Cancer hurts everybody in the family of the person it touches.

    Not only do we hurt for our loved one, we lose out on time together, time having fun, time just goofing off.

    Little kids don't understand why mom and dad are too busy to play, parents don't have enough time to share.

    It's a terrible disease that causes so much trauma.

    It must be stopped.

    Remember to hug your family.

    This is year 7 for me riding for Sick Kids to beat Cancer.

    Check out my stats on my page. I'm still pledging 300 km a year, which makes me proud of my personal health so far.

    I hate this disease. It has touched so many of my loved ones.

    I can't do anything myself to cure cancer, but I can donate my time and money to help little kids.

    Please help me to reach my goal of $2,500 this year.
