Breanna Plourde

Each August I ride in Memory of a young, beautiful soul....Breanna Plourde. Her family lost her 5 years ago, February 4, 2020 at the age of 27. Breanna courageously fought a battle against osteosarcoma. Although the sun has set on Breanna, the memory of that energetic smile, the love she had for others, the positivity she radiated, and the love everyone has for her will keep her memory alive with every sunrise.

My Story

This is my 11th year Riding to Fight Kids’ Cancer with Great Cycle Challenge for SickKids Foundation.

The Great Cycle Challenge Canada is a national SickKids Foundation fundraising initiative held throughout August.

All funds raised go to support the work of SickKids Foundation to provide care, develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.

Cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Today, over 83% of pediatric patients will survive their cancer. And every day the GFCC (Garron Family Cancer Centre) is coming closer to closing the gap between detection and treatment – between the ability to determine the genetic factors of cancer, and the ability to deliver faster, personalized, and more effective treatment options.

We are not just taking the fight to one type of kids’ cancer – our mission is to find a cure for all cancers to ensure Healthier Kids Have Brighter Futures.

Our Vision is a world without cancer where all kids are living life, not fighting for it.

Spidey-Guy and I had an awesome ride today on one of our favourite routes. Felt great to be able to get outside again.

And thanks to my indoor bike for keeping me fit for it.

First ride of 2026 for Spidey-Guy and I. Got up to 24 clicks..untill I turned around 🚴🏼‍♀️😂

Bike got a tune up and new tires at the end of last season.

No more riding on bald tires 😂 but that was making me go faster no?...like a road bike?.....🤔😉😂🚴🏼‍♀️
