Breanna Plourde
Each August I ride in Memory of a young, beautiful soul....Breanna Plourde. Her family lost her 5 years ago, February 4, 2020 at the age of 27. Breanna courageously fought a battle against osteosarcoma. Although the sun has set on Breanna, the memory of that energetic smile, the love she had for others, the positivity she radiated, and the love everyone has for her will keep her memory alive with every sunrise.
My Story
This is my 10th year Riding to Fight Kids’ Cancer with Great Cycle Challenge for SickKids Foundation.
The Great Cycle Challenge Canada is a national SickKids Foundation fundraising initiative held throughout August.
All funds raised go to support the work of SickKids Foundation to provide care, develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.
Cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Today, over 83% of pediatric patients will survive their cancer. And every day the GFCC (Garron Family Cancer Centre) is coming closer to closing the gap between detection and treatment – between the ability to determine the genetic factors of cancer, and the ability to deliver faster, personalized, and more effective treatment options.
We are not just taking the fight to one type of kids’ cancer – our mission is to find a cure for all cancers to ensure Healthier Kids Have Brighter Futures.
Our Vision is a world without cancer where all kids are living life, not fighting for it.

My 10th year was an Amazing one. WE beat my first Fundraising Goal of $2,500. I then raised it to $3,000 and YOU beat that. 👊🏻👊🏻

I also Rode 560km. The most I have ridden in 10 years with Great Cycle Challenge. 😲
I can't thank you enough for all the support you have given me over the years. I can't believe it has been 10 years since I saw this fundraising challenge and decided the cause is too great not to help SickKids Foundation and the Garron Family Cancer Center. 💙🧡

I can't believe this year. My 10th year and I / We have raised the most I have ever and I have ridden the most I have ever also.

Aug 31 - Last Ride
1 Sep 2025Did 72.14km today to beat my 500km goal which I then wanted to do 550km so ended with 560km whoot whoot. 🎉🎉🎉
And We beat my new Fundraising Goal and raised the most ever in my 10 years with $3,000.

31 Aug 2025Forgot to post this before leaving this morning. Had 12km to go to hit my new Ride Goal of 500....and I am half way in my ride now and I did 40km so far. But my new Goal is 550.....if I hit my new Fundraising Goal of $3,000. $81 TO GO.

My 10th year riding with Great Cycle Challenge Canada for SickKids Foundation has been awesome.
12km away from hitting New Riding Goal of 500km (since I passed my original of 350km). Furthest I have ever ridden.
We passed my Fundraising Goal of $2,500. Now just $81 away from $3,000. Most I have fundraised if I hit it.
Sunday August 31, last day and my last ride. If I hit $3,000, I will move my Riding Goal to 550km.

Aug 27 Ride - 2nd Last Ride
28 Aug 2025Very happy I hit 30km. Makes my last ride on Sunday 31st (last day of challenge) a bit easier to get to 550km. 12km to 500km.
Beautiful evening for a ride. Was cruising along at 25km along Wyandotte, but Tecumseh and Forest Glade wind slowed me down a bit.
Found something I didn't know I lost, but that is for another blog.
