So in looking at my totals just now, I really feel like I need to do one more kilometer, to make it a nice round 3700 kilometers! But then I might as well try to raise another $57 to make the fundraising a nice even $43,000. So I need 57 people to pledge $1.00 or 1 person to put in $57.00. Anyone interested?
Today is the day I finished my 300 kilometers to ride in Arlene's memory, and for all the kids who are still fighting cancer, and for those who did not survive.....there are so many of them!!!! We continue to do this year after year, and still there are kids dying from cancer every year. All we can do, is to continue to fundraise, so at the very least, research can happen, to give better treatment options and outcomes. I am finished my riding for this year, and there are a few more things to do before I wrap this up for 2025.....for one thing, another $57.00 would give me a nice round total of $43,000.00, so if you can find it in you to donate that, I will be grateful, but even without that, I am so thankful for all the support you have all given to my efforts this year! I know I said this would be my last year, but man it's going to be difficult to stop, so stay tuned and see what happens next year! It might look a bit different, but I just might be back!!!
Slowly but surely I am getting my kilometers finished. Just 9.5 more and I am there. The cycling has been more challenging this year. Wind, rain, more wind....and perhaps age, have all played a roll, but I will get them done this week I believe.
Great Cycle Challenge 2025 is wrapping up soon, and with the help of many people, I have achieved much more than I ever expected, so THANK YOU to everyone who has helped in any way at all....whether you donated, participated in the fundraisers (which equates to donating), shared my posts, or offered encouragement all along, you are all appreciated very much!
Another quick ride after dinner and I’m down to 10 more kilometers to meet my riding goal! I hope to finish it either tomorrow or Thursday, depending on the weather! Thank you to all those who supported, encouraged and shared all my fundraising posts.
And if you have not donated yet, it never too late to make a difference in the life of a hold fighting cancer!
Also remember that September is Chimdhood Cancer Awareness month!
This morning was a day for paperwork.....I delivered some tax receipts to donors, and had a lovely visit with two of them. I was home for lunch, after which, I had a few people drop by to pick up their jam. I hope they are enjoying this tasty product. Also had a loaned jersey returned, all washed and ready to hang in the closet again. Thank you Pam S. for that. I also hope you are enjoying your jam...lol
Sunday I got in a quick ride but didn't stop to take pictures along the ride, as I just wanted to get back home and relax. I did deliver a few jars of the jam, and am hoping that the recipients are enjoying the fruits of my labour! But slowly I am getting my kilometers done. I should be at 300 by the end of this week.
Oh, by the way, as seen in the picture, my diplodemia has recovered from the pain inflicted by having to share a spot on the deck with the pepper plant....lol
Saturday morning was another "peach" of a day! We finished up with the peaches, canning 7 jars of peaches for our own consumption over the winter months. Once that chore was completed, it was time to head on down to the Ingersoll Harvest Festival at the Creative Arts Centre, to check out the many vendors, and show my presences and appreciate for so many people from the town, who have supported me along this cancer riding journey! Harvest Fest, put on by the Kiwanis Club, was a huge success, with so many interesting vendors! It was also an opportunity for me to get in some more kilometers, so we are making headway toward the 300 mark!
Another non biking day today! First thing this morning I delivered the first three jars of jam, hit the grocery store for more ingredients and then home to make another batch of jam! Contact me if you are interested in purchasing some. There are a few jars left available for sale!
This afternoon I met up with a few more of my supporters to deliver their tax receipts!
Today’s the day…with 12 riders ready to tackle a portion of the Trans Canada Trail, we gathered at the church parking lot and got acquainted with each other (we had a few new people join us this year). Once we were all assembled for a group picture, our piper piped us to the trail head! We cycled the paved portion of the trail and then headed out of town where the drone took over! Alec did a fantastic job of putting together the video, as well as take a lot of great pictures at various points along the trail! It’s amazing how a road looks different when crossing it on a bike as opposed to driving on it in a car!!! We passed Highway 59, and at the 17.5 kilometer mark, came to the realization that we had actually passed the turnaround spot! We headed back toward Tillsonburg, were our piper again piped us into the bakery parking lot! We gathered inside for a lovely lunch served by the amazing girls at Makkink’s! After lunch and lots of chatter about anything GCC, we headed back to the trail to finish the last three kilometers to the parking lot! It was a great day, with great people. riding for a great cause!
Today was a non biking day for me! Peaches are here and need my attention! Today we spent a good part of the day making “adult” peach jam! Adult because it has a liqueur added for extra taste! We made 20 jars of 250 ml or 500 ml bottles of jam. Before the jars were all cooled, they were all sold and I needed more! On Friday we will make some more to fill the rest of the orders and have a few jars left available for sale!
