• Day 2 Windsor to Wolfville
    3 Sep 2025

Well we had a great night at a heritage place that is an Inn. Lovely cooked breakfast then on roads. Stayed mainly back roads and slow day with rolling hills. Beautiful area. Stopped at a winery. Then on to Wolfville. Arrived at a little b&b. Just about to go explore the town but off the bike. My legs need a little rest! Living the slow life and loving it.

  • First Day Cycling in Nova Scotia
    2 Sep 2025

We made it to Nova Scotia. Bike in tack. Did a little riding around Dartmouth. Left Dartmouth this morning. Got on a great gravel trail but then about 1/4 of way, trails closed so on the roads. Very heavy traffic and really hot. Got to Windsor after 70ish km. Tired legs now!

  • Packing up Firefly
    26 Aug 2025

Well Firefly sure looks squished! But making it work 😕 lucky for me to have a handy husband since I couldn't figure it out. Still lots more packing to do but one step at a time. Thought people might like to see how to air travel with a bike.

  • The Finish Line
    24 Aug 2025

Last night, the final kilometers were undertaken in the heat! But boy, what a finish. With very tired legs I made it to Mile zero. Of course I had to get a picture with Terry. Sad my ride is over for this year. But don't you worry I hope to keep on posting on this site for a couple more weeks. You see, I'm off to Nova Scotia. Firefly is going on her first flight. Will post how that goes. Fingers crossed that all goes well on Porter airlines. Anyway I want to thank everyone for your support. Another amazing year!

  • New day
    23 Aug 2025

I gave up on my old Wahoo and so researched a new bike computer. Wow what a lot of time used to come to the conclusion that Wahoo upgrade was what I need. Very happy with Oak Bay bikes having the version I wanted. The sales guy had never seen such an old Wahoo! This morning is like Christmas opening it up and downloading updates. Soon you will be able to see my rides! It is same but different. Smaller, color and has better navigation or at least that is what they claim. Will be a laugh when I get lost now!

    20 Aug 2025

So I have done some research on my Wahoo bike computer. Tried everything to get it to connect with GPS signal. Researched that it is first generation and they no longer make it. Tried to remember when I got it. Thinking around 10 years. So last night I made up my mind to purchase a new one. They go for around $700 and then you have to purchase the cadence tracker, heart rate monitor, etc for around $100 each. Pricey but I do use it a lot for navigating especially when travelling. Anyway still making my mind up and then I get an email from wahoo. They are working on a fix! WOW. Might have it back and running soon! No big pricey purchase. Happy dance!

  • Computer down and out
    19 Aug 2025

So today was all around a not so good day. First I couldn't sleep so tired but got up early. But coffee didn't sit right in my tummy so a little late leaving for work. Wanted to check my bike over but no time. Then as I was leaving, my bike computer would not start. Frustrated, I rode to work and carried my bad start into the office. Not very good of me! Had to do an online recertification which took most of the day. So boring and brain hurt. But I did pass my exam. However I knew I needed exercise. So long ride home. It was great. The smell of blackberries was so refreshing. Sometimes I have to remember to enjoy the little things in life! And of course, have a laugh 🤣

  • 140 done
    11 Aug 2025

WOW it's August 11th already. I have done 140 km. Panic is starting to take control since I really should be closer to 200. It is just so hot 🔥🥵 but really what do I have to complain about? The other day I decided to take the long, long way home from work. Managed to hit 5 trails and all was good until I got to the last bridge and then a wee wait. Actually all these years, I have never been struck waiting for the blue bridge. Picture is me with the bridge up in the background. Will be taking that route again soon. So much 😊

  • Squeaky clean
    30 Jul 2025

Friday is coming up fast! Can't believe it is almost August. 400 km. Just thinking about it makes me wonder why I put so much on myself! Oh well. Need to remind myself that it is for the kids. Anyway I am gearing up. Firefly is squeaky clean. Cycling kit all put together for the long weekend. Strava updated to record rides so you follow me. All that is left is the riding! And of course posting blogs. Stay tuned for the excitement of August.

  • What a great day
    6 Jul 2025

This weekend, I didn't have a lot going on so why not go for a 56 km bike ride. Decided to go on the goose trail. Three blocks on road, then trail the rest of the way! Nice to be off the roads. But half the ride is on gravel. Why is this important to point out? Well since my broken leg over a year ago, I am extremely uncomfortable clipping my feet into a bike that slips on gravel. But I have to face my fear! So I put my big girl pants on and set out on the Goose. Tense times on the loose gravel but all in all it was a win! Happy day!
